Nancy Coyne
Dr. Nancy Coyne, a psychiatrist, has 30 years experience utilizing creative process, movement and breath, EMDR, as well as talk therapy and medication in her practice working with trauma survivors. She is an EPONA certified Instructor and has presented equine facilitated work both nationally and internationally. Coyne collaborated in the founding of an equine facilitated mental health program at Flying Changes Center where she, Poppema, and Doughty offered workshops and treatment programs to individuals dealing with trauma.
Barbara Doughty
Barbara Doughty, the founder of Flying Changes Center of Topsham, ME, served as its Executive Director and senior educator for 15 years. During her tenure, she elevated the Center’s status to that of a North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) premier accredited center. She is a Maine certified special educator and a NARHA certified instructor. Doughty is currently pursuing a Masters in Clinical Mental Health at the University of Southern Maine. She has provided animal assisted activities with golden retrievers from her own breeding program (Ireigold Golden Retrievers) to local hospitals, geriatric facilities, therapeutic riding centers and adolescent treatment programs and volunteered as a Delta Society Pet Partner handler/evaluator for Pet Partner teams.
